TEXAS EDUCATION FREEDOM ACCOUNT (TEFA)

Understanding school choice for Texas families

The freedom to choose what shapes your child’s heart and mind is extremely important to us. See latest updates on the Texas school choice bill so that you can stay informed as we prepare for the upcoming school year.

What is TEFA?

In 2025, Texas launched the Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA) program, giving families more options for their children's education. The Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts manages the program, which allows qualifying families who choose private school to use approved funds for education-related expenses.

CTCS is an approved TEFA-participating school. For full program details, eligibility, and how to apply, visit educationfreedom.texas.gov.

Who is eligible?

To receive TEFA funds, your student must be a Texas resident planning to attend CTCS, or any other participating private school.

Priority is given to:

  • Students with disabilities who have a current IEP or state-accepted special education documentation
  • Families whose household adjusted gross income meets the program's financial eligibility thresholds

After these priority groups, remaining funds are available to other eligible applications. This program is open to both new families and current CTCS families. We encourage every family to apply — even if you may not initially qualify — because strong participation demonstrates to Texas leaders that families truly value the freedom to choose Kingdom Education.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. TEFA is a parent-directed state account. It does not change our tuition-setting process, admissions standards, or enrollment practices. Our tuition rates remain the same whether a family uses TEFA funds or not.

Absolutely not. Our commitment is uncompromising: CTCS will never accept funding that compromises our faith, our admissions standards, or Christ-centered instruction. TEFA is parent-directed, and our participation does not place CTCS under state control or change who we are. We will continue participating only as long as the law protects religious liberty and preserves the autonomy of private Christian schools.

The TEFA program is not part of our general admissions process or decision-making criteria for biblically aligned applicants.

We apply the same enrollment standards and processes to all families, whether they use the TEFA program or not. We evaluate every family using the same criteria, such as alignment with our mission, values, and commitment to a local church and Christ-centered education.
